Fines for Anti-social behaviour
Police will be able to issue fines of up to £80 as part of a bid to reduce the amount of time spent on paperwork.
A trial scheme has proved successful in helping officers tackle Anti-social behaviour, such as drunk and disorderly behaviour, and will be introduced nationwide by the end of the year.
There have been over 3,000 notices issued already for public order offences. It is hoped that by doing this, the amount of time the Police spend on paper work will be cut dramatically.
It is estimated that each fixed penalty the police issue saves them around 2 hours of paper work. In the last year more than 2,000 forms have been made obsolete in an effort to cut bureaucracy and enable officers to spend more time in the community.
In a further effort to reduce bureaucracy a further £20m has been provided to modernise police stations and communications technology. This should increase efficiency and help cases be brought to court more quickly.
