Information Sharing Health Benchmarking Group

Hello and welcome to our bench-marking group on the Health Sector!

We invite you to submit to us examples of best practice, good information sharing protocols and any problems you may be experiencing or progress in engaging the health sector. This group will only be as good as you (as practitioners)!

You can use this link to the Discussion Forum, where you can share your views on this topic, and ask questions to us or others in the field.

The Health sector has a vital contribution to make to crime reduction. There is plenty to be done to open the way for greater input. Below, you can access material on information sharing, under RAMAS (Risk Assessment Management and Audit System), Caldicott Guardians, and the “Breaking the Cycle of Crime-Communities Building Safer Neighbourhoods” project. RAMAS is a scheme to bring communities closer together by providing better protection for the public whilst improving the planning, treatment and management of people at or posing risk. It provides a mechanism to clarify and agree roles and responsibilities across agencies involved in treatment and care. The second item is the Department of Health guidance of disclosing confidential patient information by the designated officers (Caldicott Guardians). The third, is an evidence based project covering several initiatives for the Bedfordshire Health Promotion agency, focusing on community safety.

The General Medical Council has also published guidance on information disclosure and patient confidentiality.

We also include a link to the NACRO website, where you can find guidance on Domestic Violence, Mental Health and many other issues.
