This report outlines the 'NE (North East) Choices' multi-component drugs prevention programme for young people in the North East of England. It describes the development and implementation of the second two years of the programme - the Year Ten and Year Eleven interventions - and reports findings from the evaluation of the complete programme.
Beating Crime
Between February and September 1997, Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) conducted a thematic inspection of police forces on crime reduction. This was the most comprehensive examination of crime reduction and prevention activity in the police service.

This thematic Inspection is one of a series of HMIC inspections designed to assist and support the Police Service, and their partners in the community, in achieving a long term, sustainable reduction in crime and disorder.
Calling Time on Crime": Executive Summary
This is the most comprehensive review ever undertaken of crime reduction activity. The Inspection was led by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC), but in collaboration with the Audit Commission, the Home Office, the Local Government Association (LGA), the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) and the Social Services Inspectorate.
Children Involved in Prostitution
The Crime Reduction Programme continues to fund six prostitution initiatives across the country in order to evaluate "What Works". These projects address the issues of child prostitution, policing of prostitution and the process of exiting the profession. Details of the evaluations of the projects are being collected ready to be produced as reports on completion of the initiatives. Funding is due to end at the end of March 2003.
